Winter tress stress

In the winter the hair requires extra care. The winter, notorious for its cold and dry air, is hazardous not only for the skin but the hair as well. The hair dries up easily during this time of the year. It isn’t safe indoors either. The dry heat indoors caused by heaters is also harmful to a glossy mane. Indoors or outdoors, your hair is at risk! It needs proper precaution to prevent your hair from getting damaged.

Those who naturally have dry hair need to be more cautious during the winter. If possible shampooing your hair should be reduced to once or twice a week. Oily hair on the other hand can become less oily and thus look somewhat better. However oily hair or not, it is advised that you do not use heating devices like blow driers or curling irons. Use warm or cool water while showering as hot water can dry and damage your hair and skin.

A cap, hat or scarf is advisable to protect your hair from the winter air. Wear it just so that it covers your locks but not tight enough to restrict blood from circulating in your scalp. To replenish the hair with moisture, apply a moisturizing conditioner everyday. Leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing to let the moisture penetrate. To lock in the moisturizer, rinse off with cool water. Your hair will be lively in contrast to the sleepy surroundings in the winter!
