Most jobs require that in addition to academic qualification you have some working experience. Those searching a job for the first time will lack this demanded quality. With prospective employers searching for only experienced people, how can you get the experience that all employers search for? This is where internship comes in handy. Not only does internship give you something to write down in your C.V, but may also get you a permanent place in the organization you intern for, provided you prove yourself first.

Many employers who offer internships do so as a way to try out and recruit new full time employees. Through internship, organizations to try out individuals and decide how well they fit in the organization and if they would like to hire them on as a full time employee once the internship is completed.

To become a successful intern depends on many things including understanding clearly the expectations of both the intern and the employer; developing excellent communication skills, personal and organizational skills, the ability to manage time; as well as specific skills required in the field. New interns must be able to work both independently as well as a part of a team. Employers want employees who arrive and leave on time and adhere to the corporate culture. This includes dressing up to company dress code, taking initiative, and exhibiting a positive attitude.

Even if you don’t land a job with the company itself, besides the experience you will also have gained some pretty vital network of contacts. This will come in handy whenever you search for a job in the future. So if you’re new to the job hunting game, you might want to start with an internship.
